A Vodafone exclusive Windows Mobile OS smartphone leaked today over at the FCC website, sporting a full QWERTY keyboard and GPS. The full QWERTY keyboard and the built-in GPS receiver that the Vodafone 1231 harnesses seem quite nice but there's no Wi-Fi or 3G support in sight so we guess it won't be a high-end device. Manufactured by ZTE, the Vodafone 1231is a tri-band GPRS/EDGE smartphone with a large 2.5-inch landscape-oriented QVGA TFT display, capable of showing up to 65K colors. The 64 MB user available memory, microSD card slot and a 1.3 MPcamera are among the confirmed data. Vodafone 1231 measures 113 x 65.4 x 14.5 mm, weighs 130 grams and draws its juice from a 1100 mAh Li-Ion battery. There is no information on the device pricing and availability, but we guess it would be a relatively affordable piece of kit.
Texting is hard on Vodafone 1231 smartphone but easy to carry
Posted by Sheeraz AleemToday we've come across the Motorola VE66 after only yesterday they announced officially the high-class Motorola Aura. The leaks about the Motorola VE66 suggest that the new baby is geared with some high-end features as 3G, 5 MP camera, Wi-Fi and runs on the Linux OS Montavista v2.6.10. Motorola VE66 is a slider phone with a large 2.4" 16M color TFT display (maybe even touch sensitive?) and is swift-winged thanks to the Freescale SCM-A11 500MHz processor. The 5MP autofocus camera can also record video with QVGA resolution, but we are uncertain if it will carry the Kodak branding. The cam phone has also Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and microSD card slot. There will be two versions of the Motorola VE66 - the first one will have quad-band GSM/EDGE support and no 3G (for the Chinese market) and the second version will support UMTS and HSDPA. The 3G support is really welcomed, because the Motorola ZN5 lacks it. If the source photos are legitimate, we can conclude that the VE66 will even have four touch sensitive keys below the display. We look forward the official Motorola announcement of this cool phone hoping for more details soon.

Today's release of the Google Mobile 2.0 client for feature phones and Blackberry brings offline email plus a handful of other improvements. They seems to have redesigned the app from the bottom up and besides the overall performance improvement there is now multiple accounts management, multiple mobile email drafts and new shortcuts. Unfortunately, not all of the features are available for all phone models.
Mobiado releases three new phones, charges a kidney for each
Posted by Sheeraz AleemThe Canadian phone manufacturer Mobiado has just released three new additions to its lineup of insanely-expensive phones. White and Red special editions to the 105EM model were unveiled as well as the brand new 105CLB. As usual for the company, exquisite looks, rare materials and sky-high price tags define the phones. The 105EM Special Edition White of the Mobiado will be have a body made of burl wood inserted into a nickel-plated brass frame (dermatitis, anyone?). The screws are made of titanium and the buttons are made of pure sapphire crystal, hand painted with silver paint. All of the newly introduced Mobiado phones (and most of the previous ones as a matter of fact) support quad-band GSM and dual-band UMTS (850/2100MHz). They all have 2 megapixel snappers on board and 2" 16M color displays of QVGA resolution. Some of the other features include Bluetooth, 1GB of internal memory (expandable through the microSD card slot), micro USB as well as Nokia Series 40 5th edition UI. There is no information regarding the availability or the pricing of any of the new handsets but if you are to purchase one of them you'll know where to get them (selling a kidney should do).

The Red special edition is too made of burl wood but unlike the white one its brass frame is 24K gold plated and so are the brass screws. The buttons of the 105EM Special Edition Red are made of sapphire crystal, hand painted with 24-karat gold. And if by this point you thought it cannot get any more lavish (and wasteful) just wait and see the final phone in this announcement.
The new Mobiado 105CLB has been crafted from large pieces of sapphire crystal and printed from beneath with the silver Mobiado monogram. Its frame is manufactured from aircraft aluminum, polished and then again nickel plated. The unique battery cover is made of a single piece of sapphire crystal. Mobiado 105 CLB will be available in two flavors - White and Black.
